Destructive Dog Behavior
Dogs could be destructive in some ways if not given the proper training. Destructive dog behavior includes, unnecessary jumping, digging, destructive chewing and biting. These behaviors can be tamed or stopped if you know how. Here are some tips to help you put the necessary solution to your dog’s behavior problems.
Know the reasons for the specific destructive dog behavior of your pet. Is your dog frightened, lonely, bored, sick, etc.? There are reasons for these destructive behaviors and as a pet owner you have to find out where these negative behaviors are coming from. You may need help from other experts like your vet or a dog trainer etc. Bottom line, you should know the cause to give the proper solution to the aggressive behavior problems of your dog.
Give your dog toys to play with. This is another solution for his destructive dog behavior like unnecessary chewing. Provide your dog the right toys to chew to give him the idea that those are the only things that are allowed for him to chew. Do not give him things like old shoes, old clothes and things you are no longer using because that will confuse him and make him think it is alright to chew them. Just give him chew toys.
Keep your dog away from your furniture and other valuable house objects. Keep important objects out of reach for your dog like your shoes, clothes, DVDs, remote control, etc. to help your dog avoid temptation to demonstrate whatever destructive dog behavior your pet have.
If you caught the destructive dog behavior in the act, reprimand your dog. Make him feel and know that his behavior is not acceptable and you are angry with his behavior. Be consistent and do not confuse him, he will eventually learn what behaviors are acceptable and not.
